Welcome to my fellow Floridians!
While I have written on my Meet Your Counselor page about my experience of training and being a counselor to those in the State of Florida, I will say a few things that I find benefit my Florida clients because of my experience of living in this state with you. I originally moved to Florida in 2004, then took a job opportunity in Los Angeles from 2007 - 2009, but moved back to Florida because I missed it so much and had decided to go to graduate school to become a counselor. I’ve been back since 2009 and immediately became involved in LGBTQIA+ advocacy since I was already working on the Prop 8 issue when I lived in California. To obtain my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I chose to attend Rollins College in Winter Park, FL, which aligned with my values and I knew would allow me to tailor my studies to the population for whom I was most interested in providing therapy and support. Central Florida and our wonderful community has been my home for nearly two decades, so I have also been through the Pulse tragedy and political challenges with you. I have worked with so many organizations who provide services for and/or advocate for the rights of LGBTQIA+ community members, including going to Tallahassee to lobby for the safety and well-being of all, but in recent years, focusing on our beautiful transgender and non-binary citizens. Please know I continue to be in this fight with you, and I value and see you.
