RATES & AVAILABILITY
Private Pay Rates
The main benefit to paying out-of-pocket and not using insurance is that you will receive the highest level of privacy while receiving therapy since I do not need to report anything at all to an insurance company, and your information never leaves my solo private practice (unless it required by mandated reporter or other safety laws designated on a state or federal level, or a judge-signed court order). I also will not need to do a mental health diagnosis for you, unless you would like to work on that together, or you may need one for other specific circumstances, but it is 100% your choice.
I do not require my clients to see me a certain amount of times to get started, or to schedule at a specific frequency. If someone would be better suited to a higher level of care, then we can discuss what that might look like for you, but I have been hearing that some therapists require weekly sessions for 4-8 weeks, minimum. I am all about understanding that folks' have limited time and budgets and encourage self-empowerment in my clients, so you get to pick the session length and frequency that you'd like, and that can change as needed. In my intake paperwork, I do note that clients are discharged if there are 60 days without a session, but if I still have openings in my schedule, I am glad to welcome clients back if they needed a break from therapy for any reason and want to get started again. I have clients I see weekly, or can often schedule two sessions in one week, or one 90-minute (or even two hours, if desired and available) session in a day, or meet with folks as far apart as every six weeks. The most common frequency I find clients are interested in is meeting every other week. Again, part of my theory of counseling is that my clients feel empowered, so if you are not in a situation where you need a higher level of care to begin with (or something arises during our sessions I where recommend it), we can meet as often as weekly or as infrequently as every 4-6 weeks.
I have recently started offering a 45-minute session at a lower rate than a 55-minute session, plus lowered my relationship counseling rate to be the same as individual counseling. I have made this change to try and accommodate more clients while still practicing good self-care. For EMDR treatment, 90 minute sessions are recommended as a best practice, so once we start into Phases 3-8 (which will be at least a few appointments in), I will request for those to be 90-minute sessions at the rate of $200. Clients can also request extended sessions for 90-minutes at $200 for regular individual or couples counseling.
At the time of booking an appointment, clients may choose from the following session lengths and formats:
1) 45 minute sessions for individual (1 person) or relationship / family counseling (2+ people) : $100
2) 55 minute sessions for individual (1 person) or relationship / family counseling (2+ people) : $125
3) 90 minute sessions for individual (1 person) or relationship / family counseling (2+ people), including Phases 3-8 in EMDR : $200
I may offer sliding scale and college student rate spots depending on how many active clients I have at a lower rate at the time you reach out, or there may be a wait list for these spots. I may also change my published rates at any time, but if you get started with me at an advertised rate, I stick to the rate we confirm in the Informed Consent document we complete, and may, with plenty of notice, change the rate in the future. For example, as any business owner might, I may let clients know about rates changing each January, but that may also include no adjustments and maintaining your current rate.
Since transitioning to telehealth only, and to maintain HIPAA compliance, I use a specific credit card processing service for health providers, so payments are accepted via credit or debit cards only. I can also accept HSA debit/credit cards.
I do not accept any insurance or provide superbills at this time.
Availability
I am currently accepting new clients to meet with me on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in the afternoons and evenings (updated 3/31/25).
